Hungary? Can’t Eat Here.

A toxic spill in Budapest, Hungary claimed the lives of four people and left more than 100 others needing treatment for chemical burns.The waste spread across an area of 15.4 square miles in what officials say is Hungary’s worst-ever chemical accident. Officials say the clean up may take over a year.

Families have lost their cars and suffered damage to their homes and fear more will be lost before the clean up starts.

The mud — a residue from aluminum production which is highly corrosive and contains toxic heavy medals destroyed all vegetation other than trees and seeped into hundreds of houses in villages and contaminated waterways. Residents have been advised not to eat home-grown produce, and fish or hunt in the region.

I guess the government wants them to have hot dogs for dinner.
