Russian President, California Governor Look for High-Tech Trade

Arnold Schwarzenegger, the terminator, the California governor, and now, it seems, the innovator, with prospective investors from Silicon Valley took a trip to a suburb of Moscow on Wednesday — the California governor came to the table with one goal, “pumping up” President Dmitri A. Medvedev’s efforts to modernize Russia.

Schwarzenegger, who of course, is also known for films like “The Terminator” and “Kindergarden Cop,” joined by executives from Google, Microsoft and other technology companies, called Russia a “gold mine” for foreign investors and praised the Russian president as “a great visionary” and an “action president.”

Medvedev is looking to transform his country — and who better to help in that effort that Schwarzenegger, who has been called a “seasoned fighter of government bureaucracy and other dark forces,” in The New York Times.

This could be both good, and bad for the United States — but political analyst Masha Lipman, with the Carnegie Center, said in the article that it is not easy to get started or stay in business in Russia.

“Risks are indeed high. Russia is not a law-governed place. Russia is a place where decisions are taken in a non-transparent fashion,” said Lipman.

I guess we’ll just have to wait and see what if the man who brought John Conner to safety — can help bring the country of Russia to the 21st century.
