Another sports event goes to Sochi

In 1212 days, all the eyes of the world will be turned in the direction of Russia, but especially to Sochi. The city, situated along the Black see and near the Georgian border will host the next winter Olympic games.

Former president and current prime minister Vladimir Putin was the one presented the candidacy of the city, but according to many experts in international relations, it was to enforce the leadership Russia in that area.

Having the Olympic games seems not to be enough for Putin. Bloomberg News reports that the Russian government now wants to host the Formula One. Putin signed with the head of the Formula One, Bernie Ecclestone. The contract is from 2014 to 2020.

Meanwhile, the newest event will not help to improve the relations with Georgia. Coincidence or not, the Russian army held a war with Georgia during the last Summer Olympics Games in Beijing.  The peace is back between the two nations, but it doesn’t impeach the Georgia government to criticize his neighbors because they think the construction of sports facilities will deteriorate the environment in Georgia.
